Today was a bit chilly, but nonetheless a beautiful day for the GCISD annual Special Olympic games! This afternoon,  the GCISD Special Olympic team was eager to participate in their events at Mustang/Panther Stadium. In order to participate in Special Olympics gaming event students must be specific “Special Olympic criteria,” be of at least eight years of age, and have a released signed medical form.

This afternoon’s events were as followed for the GCISD Special Olympics Team:



Track and Field



Along with the athletes of today’s games brought many supporters of the GCISD community. Many of these supporters were parents along with students in the following activities: Athletic Training, Best Buddies, Cheer, Football, and PALS. These organizations were proud and excited to cheer on the GCISD Special Olympic team!


This annual event is a wonder way to provide children with disabilities a way to shine as athletes. These competitors worked very hard to train for their events, and deserve great recognition for their perseverance and dedication. AMAZING job to everyone who participated in the GCISD Special Olympic Games this afternoon!
