The parent company for Taco Cabana announced that it has closed nine restaurants in Texas, with five of those in Dallas-Fort Worth.

In addition, parent company Fiesta Restaurant Group closed all the Pollo Tropicals in Atlanta and several others in Florida. Dallas-Fort Worth was not affected, because the remaining 13 Pollo Tropicals in North Texas closed in 2017.

The company says it’s completing a “strategic renewal plan” for Taco Cabana and Pollo Tropical. A spokeswoman confirms that more closures of Taco Cabanas in Dallas-Fort Worth are not expected in 2019 or the remainder of 2018.

In the future, Taco Cabana will be rebranded and have a new catering operation, company President and Chief Executive Officer Richard Stockinger said in a press release.
