This showcase is to spread Mental Health Awareness in our school and community.

Make sure to bring your friends and family to support the art department in this well-informed showcase.

As mental health awareness month is in May, it’s never a bad time to spread knowledge and inform students and adults of this cause.

What exactly is mental illness?

Mental illness is a physical disorder of the brain that causes disturbances in thinking, behavior, energy or emotion, that make it difficult to cope with simple things in life.

The two most common mental health disorders are anxiety and mood disorders.

More than 18% of adults each year struggle with some type of anxiety disorder, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder (panic attacks), generalized anxiety disorder and specific phobias.

Mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar depression, affect nearly 10% of adults each year and are characterized by difficulties in regulating one’s mood.

Attend this event to have the opportunity to learn more about mental health illnesses, ask questions you may have, and learn what you can do to help!

Hope to see you there!
